Special Projects
There are times that Family Connection recognizes a special need in our community and works collaboratively with community partners to meet that need. These are our special "one-time" projects.
RAFT

Buddy Bench Project
Grand Piano Project
LCHS Alums and sisters, Emily & Lisa Kitchens are two of our community's shining stars. Both sisters received their BFA from the University of Evansville and their MFA from the American Conservatory Theatre.
Emily wrote the play RAFT and it was produced by The Group Lab. RAFT was selected to be performed at the renowned Edinburgh Theatre Festival in Scotland in the Fall of 2015.
In July, 2015, an effort to showcase our love for Emily & Lisa, and in memory of their beloved mother, Laura; Family Connection partnered with several local Fine Arts Fans to host a one-time performance of RAFT on the Robert A. Clay Auditorium Stage. Our efforts raised nearly $10,000 to support The Group Lab as they made their adventure to Scotland and the Edinburgh Theatre Festival.
The Buddy Bench concept was developed by a young elementary age student, Christian, and fostered by his school principal. "The Buddy Bench is a simple idea to eliminate loneliness and foster friendship on the playground."
Christian's desire is to spread the message of inclusion and kindness. For more information about the Buddy Bench, visit www.buddybench.org.

Lee County Family Connection, in partnership with the Lee County High School Fine Arts Department is currently seeking donations to help fund the purchase of a Grand Piano for the Robert A. Clay Auditorium.
Our Fine Arts Program is flourishing. We are hosting more local, regional and state events in which a fine piano is required.
Each time we host an event, we have to rent a piano, which is quite costly.
Please consider supporting the Grand Piano Project.
If you would like to make a donation, please contact Patsy Shirley at (229) 903-3993 or shirleypa@lee.k12.ga.us.
